KINKS- besta breska band allra tíma?

Kinks var ein af fyrstu böndunum til að heimsækjalandann. Og þeir sömdu lag sem hét I'm On An Island og það var "auðvitað" um Ísland. Þeir komu tvisvar til landsins fyrst 1965 minnir mig (og ég fékk ekki að fara þó ég væri 10 ára) og spiluðu í Austurbæjarbíói og síðan aftur 1970 og spiluðu í Höllinni og ég var þar upp við sviðið að sjáldsögðu. Síðan kom Ray Davies með Storyteller showið sitt í Höllina og var alveg frábær. Ray kom síðan í fyrra og spilaði í Háskólabíói, uppáhalds hljómleika staðnum mínum. Hann var hreint út sagt frábær þar. Ég á mjög marga vini sem halda mikið upp Kinks og birti hér lista yfir það sem er fáanlegt í dag og því eru gloppur í úrvalinu. Ég læt fylgja með Ray og Dave plötur en Dave eru að senda út plötu í ágúst Fractured Mindz, en eins og Kinks vinir vita þá fékk kappinn slag fyrir nokkru en hefur víst jafnað sig aftur. Útgáfufyrirtæki Rays vill að hann gefi út plötu á árinu hvað sem verður. Síðan hefur lengi verið talað um væntanlegt box sett.

Sjálfur er ég forfallinn Ray Davis og Kinks-aðdáandi, bara ekki síður en Damon Albarn, Guðni Már og Megas t.d. Frábært safn sem þ+u bíður upp á þarna, en ég á nú megnið af því reyndar, allavega það allra bitastæðasta. Varðandi Immigrant Song og Ísland, þá ber nú Robert Plant alls ekki á móti því að textinn sé saminn undir áhrifum frá íslenskri náttúru þegar þeir voru hér 1970.
